Nuer Field Notes

The Nuer Field Notes Collection features the field notes of Eleanor Vandevort, a missionary in South Sudan from 1949 through 1963, as well as the full-text of her book: A leopard tamed: the story of an African pastor, his people and his problems. The collection also includes Vandevort's Nuer-English lexicons, a grammar of Nuer, and a translation of the book of Genesis into Nuer.

Essays about the development of this collection, an image collection of photographs, slides and letters, and a bibliography can all be found HERE
