E-Resources Access Information

LibKey Link

LibKey Link is a tool that works with our link resolver (IU-Link) to supply one-click access to PDF and HTML e-journal articles in many of our databases. It is enriched with Unpaywall data, so even if we haven't tracked an OA journal for inclusion in our e-journal holdings, LibKey Link can still direct users to the OA content when available. Users can choose if they want to access the PDF, HTML or see the article in context.

Additionally, our subscription to LibKey Link grants an easy way to share article URLs with folks at our library and beyond without having to worry about proxy prefixes or other authentication complications. Simply combine https://libkey.io/ and the DOI of the article in question, and you've got a link that can be more easily shared. Example: https://libkey.io/10.1111/jore.12387 (libkey.io + the DOI 10.1111/jore.12387).

  • If the recipient is at a LibKey institution, they'll see their normal Libkey experience
  • If the recipient is at an institution that subscribes to the e-journal (but doesn't use LibKey), they'll be able to access through their local authentication methods
  • If the recipient is at an institution that does not subscribe to the e-journal nor to LibKey, it will supply any known OA versions of the article (pre-print, etc. if the article is not fully OA). If OA is not available, it will provide them with a link to the publisher site with a notice that access may be behind a paywall.
