Life of Joan Sterrenburg

Joan Sterrenburg was born March 18th, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1963, her first master's degree at Stanford University in 1964, and her second master's degree at the University of California - Berkeley in 1970.

In 1970, Joan joined the faculty of Indiana University's School of Fine Arts. She received the National Endowment for the Arts Craftsman's Fellowship in 1979.

From 1979 to 1989, Joan directed the IU Handmade Paper Facility. She served as a full-time professor at Indiana University from 1983 to 2004.
