Digital audio tapes

  • Description: Digital audio tapes (DATs) that are stored in the Closed Stacks area of the Music Library. Access to these recordings is provided through a digitized copy of the original and is limited to online listening.

  • Location: These recordings can be heard using the Variations system at any of the workstations found on the first and third floors of the Music Library.

  • To access:
    • Use IUCAT to find the call number of the item you wish to listen to. If you notice a URL that looks something like this--http://www.music.indiana.edu/cgi-bin/var/access?ABD4538--you will be able to access the recording using the Variations digital library.
    • If the item has not been digitized, send an email to digitize[at]indiana.edu with your name, the call number, and the IUCAT location and request that the item be digitized.
    • The item will be digitized as soon as possible (depending upon the number of requests ahead of yours). You will be notified by email when your request is ready to use.
    • Use Locating and Listening to Sound Recordings Online if you need assistance in finding your recording and listening to it in the library.
