Covered Regions

The term "Celtic" is widely used to describe cultures across regions of Europe and western Asia. In this guide, we will focus primarily on the Six Celtic Nations. This group includes the countries and regions that typically come to mind when most think of Celtic culture. These nations include Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Isle of Man, and Brittany.

While the Archives of Traditional Music holds a large sampling of music from Irish and Scottish origin, our holdings in Welsh, Cornish, Manx, and Breton music are not as prolific. Because of this, we have combined our holdings from these regions into one finding aid.
