Archives Online (https://archives.iu.edu/) is a portal for accessing descriptions of archival and special collections held by libraries, archives and other cultural heritage units at Indiana University or affiliated with Indiana University. The collection descriptions (finding aids) are for non-book and original research materials such as correspondence and photographs.
When first navigating to Archives Online, you will see a list of repositories which have finding aids online through the platform.
Scroll down to "Archives of Traditional Music" and click the name. This will show you the available finding aids published by ATM staff.
You can then click the name of a finding aid, such as the Hoagy Carmichael Collection, to view the finding aid.
Once in the guide, you can choose to search for a term in any field, or a specific field such as title, name, place, or subject.
Searching for "Indiana" in any field within the Hoagy Carmichael Collection will pull up a list of items with Indiana somewhere in the description, such as the lyric sheet for Chimes of Indiana, below. Opening the item by clicking on title will show details about the item, such as the location of the item within the collection.
