- Social ExplorerProvides access to data maps, profile reports, demographic data, and data elements and variables. Includes interactive tools that allow users to create and share maps, presentations and tables, or compare and analyze data.

Desktop GIS
- ArcGIS Desktopmade by ESRI, is by far the most common software application for working with GIS. ArcGIS is available on most Student Technology Center (STC) computers on the IU Bloomington campus and through IUAnyware. This software can only be downloaded on Windows machines.
- QGISFree, powerful, open source desktop GIS. User-developed plugins add functionality. Recommended. Works on Macs!
