As an archives, our primary mission is to collect, organize, preserve and make accessible records documenting Indiana University's origins and development and the activities and achievements of its officers, faculty, students, alumni and benefactors. With an estimated 18,000 cubic feet of records and papers in all formats, the University Archives is the largest and most comprehensive source of information on the history and culture of Indiana University.
In archives and special collections, it can be very difficult to point to specific items and collections as representative of diversity. It really involves much more in-depth research and interpretation and as such, nearly all of our collections could be potential sources for research on diversity. However, we have identified some processed administrative records, personal papers, and other resources that can be excellent starting points. There’s much that has not yet been described – contact the Archives if you do not find what you are looking for! archives@indiana.edu

Indiana Alumni Magazine-Alumni Magazine through HathiTrust, spans 1938-1948. Full text searchable.
Indiana University Alumni Quarterly-Predecessor to the Alumni Magazine, full text available via HathiTrust. Spans 1914-1938.
Indiana Daily Student (IDS):The Indiana Daily Student spanning 1867-1922 can be searched in the NewspaperARCHIVE (with some spotty coverage); however, the later papers will need to be searched on microfilm. Microfilm can be accessed on the 2nd floor of the East Tower in the Wells Library. The Archives also has an index for the IDS that goes through 1938, which will help fill the gap between what is in the NewspaperARCHIVE and the microfilm.
IU Bulletins:The IU Bulletins contain valuable information about faculty and university departments. In earlier editions, all students are listed. Access many of these via the HathiTrust:
