Archaeology is the study of people in the past, and the present, using material remains the things humans "leave behind" as evidence.

James H. Kellar Library

The James H. Kellar Library and Erminie Wheeler-Voegelin Archives are located in the Glenn Black Laboratory of Archaeology. Visit them for:

  • Research reports associated with field excavations.
  • Files and maps relating to individual sites in Indiana.
  • Documents relating to the history of the Glenn Black Laboratory of Archaeology.
  • Books, reports, and serials pertaining to archaeology, especially in North America. View the partial online catalog in Library Thing.
  • Papers of notable archaeologists
  • Excavation records, field notebooks, maps, and more.

The Kellar Library holdings are available for on-site research only. To make an appointment to visit the library and archives please fill out a Research Request form (pdf) and email it to gbl@indiana.edu.
