According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the 1st Academy Award ceremony was held in the Blossom Room of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Thursday, May 16,1929.  The Oscar for Outstanding Picture was awarded to Wings.  The wording may have changed over the past nine decades, but the excitement and pageantry has remained the same. Nominees and fans alike hold their breath as these famous words are uttered, "And the Oscar goes to..."

The 93rd Academy Awards will be presented at Union Station Los Angeles and the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday, April 25, 2021. Who will take home the Oscar this year? Who knows, but cinephiles from all over the globe will once again hold their breath when the presenter enthusiastically state, "And the Oscar for Best Motion Picture goes to..."
