According to The Reading League, a professional organization that focuses on evidence-aligned reading instruction, the Science of Reading is an "interdisciplinary body of scientifically-based research about reading and issues related to reading and writing." This scientifically-based research includes data derived from a variety of fields, including, but not limited to cognitive psychology, communication sciences, developmental psychology, education, special education, implementation science, linguistics, neuroscience, and school psychology (Science of Reading: Defining Guide, 2021).
