Citing Your Sources

Citation involves properly crediting the authors of information sources used in a paper or presentation. Learning how to cite something is easy, and there are lots of online guides to help you get started. Remember to cite not only text-based sources, but also images, video, and other media.

Watch the video below to learn more about how and why you should cite your sources.

APA Style Guide

The American Psychological Association (APA) citation style is the most commonly-used style in the social sciences. The Purdue Online Writing Lab has a great citation guide for APA format. This guide will answer most of your citation questions, but if you need to see a full copy of the official APA Style Guide, 7th Edition, there is one in the Wells Library. If you need help locating this book, ask the librarian at the Reference Desk in the Scholars' Commons (1st floor of the East Tower).
