Renewals and Returns

  • If you’re in Bloomington, you can put all library materials (even interlibrary loan) in the drop boxes located in the Wells library parking lot
  • If you’re NOT in Bloomington, but you’re coming back in the fall or spring, hang onto your items, and: Renew them online when you receive the email notice that they are soon due. If you encounter problems with online renewal, email
  • If you’re NOT in Bloomington and you have no plans to return to campus, we recommend the following:
    • Continue to hang onto your items if you can, and renew them online when you receive the email notice that they are soon due. It is possible that prepaid mailing labels will become available this summer. However, we just don’t know yet—we are waiting to find out. If campus library administration decides to offer prepaid mailing labels, we will email music students with the news. Keeping and renewing library items through the summer is not going to prevent you from graduation, etc.
    •  If you cannot hang onto your items, you can mail them to us, but at this time we are unable to reimburse you for those charges.
    • You can send all library items (music, Wells, interlibrary loan—all library items) to:
      Cook Music Library Returns
      1201 E. Third Street
      Bloomington, IN 47405

*Please insure your shipment; you are responsible for items that get lost or damaged in transit
*Just in case the campus offers shipping reimbursement at a later date, keep your shipping receipt.

Borrowing and Recalls
As of March 25, the Cook Music Library is closed. We cannot lend print items from the library, nor can we recall items checked out by other patrons. If possible, please do not mail us your returns, because mail is being temporarily held in another location. Interlibrary loan staff cannot process print requests either, including scans from print books or print journals.
If you need materials that you cannot locate in electronic form, please send an email to library staff at mlcirc @ Or, leave a voicemail at 812-855-8541. We will do our best to find you what you need.

Research Assistance
There are several members of the music library staff who are ready to assist you with your research needs. If you are writing a paper, completing a project, struggling with formatting citations, or needing any other help with fulfilling assignments, please send an email to musiclib_ref @ Or, leave a voicemail at 812-855-6716.

Miscellaneous Help
If you are unsure whom to call, you can send an email to mlcirc @, or leave a voicemail at 812-855-8541. We will connect you to the right person!
