IUCAT
IUCAT, the online catalog for all titles available through IU Libraries, is often the best place to start a search for books and ebooks, and also includes government documents, videos, and sound recordings.
- Use broad search terms to give IUCAT the best chance of finding relevant titles.
- Use the red Request This button to have print materials delivered to the most convenient library for pick-up.
- Use the filters like Subject and Publication Year on the left side of the page to narrow your search results.
- When you find one title that looks promising, use the hyperlinked Subject headings to locate additional titles.
IUCAT, Indiana University's online library catalog, provides comprehensive access to millions of items held by the IU Libraries statewide, including books, recordings, US government publications, periodicals, and other types of material. Users can access IUCAT from any Internet-connected computer or device, whether in the libraries, on campus, or off campus.
OneSearch@IU
Use OneSearch when you want to do the broadest search for scholarly articles. Limit your results to Peer Reviewed and open up All Filters to filter search results by Subject.

If you created your MyEBSCO account using your @indiana.edu email address, you will need to update the address to your @iu.edu email address before December 31, 2025.
1. Sign in to your MyEBSCO account
2. From MyEBSCO dropdown menu, select Manage Your Account
  1. You may be asked to sign in again
3. Update your email address to use @iu.edu and press the Save button
Google Scholar
Google Scholar is particularly useful for locating related sources by using the Cited by tool. Copy and paste the title of a great article, then click on Cited by underneath that source to find the books and articles that have cited it thus far. Can't access the full-text? Copy and paste the article title into OneSearch or the IU Libraries Citation Linker to locate it.

oogle Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research. Use Google Scholar to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.

Connecting to Google Scholar from off-campus? The IUB Libraries already provide access to many of the journal articles indexed in Google Scholar. Look for IU-Link, which will lead you to information about full-text content you can access via the Libraries' subscriptions.

IU Libraries Citation Linker
Use this tool from the IU Libraries to locate cited sources found in bibliographies and references. If the tool can't locate the source, it will give you the option to request it via interlibrary loan.
Request through Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
If you can't access the book or article that you need through IU, fill out this form to submit an ILL request to receive a digital or print copy from another institution.
