Welcome, World Explorers!

This page will be your guide to finding books that you can read to complete the reading program. Each region on your program map corresponds to a section in the column on the left side of the page. We hope that these books will spark your curiosity about the diverse languages and cultures in our world and inspire you to continue exploring! Happy reading!

Many of the books on these lists were purchased through the generosity of select Title VI Centers in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies. We are grateful for their support!

About

How do I complete the program?

  1. Pick up a summer reading guide and your travel bag (a drawstring backpack) at the Education Library circulation desk OR download and print the guide (available on the Program Materials page).

  2. Read a book for each region and show it to an Education Library staff member to receive a stamp and a prize. Complete 5 of the 6 regions on the map to receive a grand prize. You can find books sorted by region in the column on the left side of the page.

  3. Final prizes for completing the entire program will be available starting Monday, June 17th.

Program FAQ

  • Prizes are available as supplies last.

  • A user may only complete one guide each summer.

  • Books do not have to be from the Education Library Collection in order to count toward the prize. Many of our titles overlap with the collections at the Monroe County Public Library locations!

  • The program will run from May 27th through July 31st, 2024.
