At Indiana University, there are many storage options, both cloud-based and networked, for your research data. There are several factors that influence which storage option you select. Things to consider:
Size of the data (both individual file and overall project size)
Who needs to access the data and how frequently
If the data need to be computed against (such as through Big Red)
If there are any sensitivity concerns (e.g., human participant data and PII)
Note: If you have any questions about storing and managing your sensitive data, please contact SecureMyResearch.
You can review the most up-to-date storage options through the IU Knowledge Base. And don’t forget—your data can have multiple different storage locations even during the same project!
