The LibGuides Guide

This guide orients librarians and other library workers on the fundamentals of using and creating LibGuides

Promote your Library Research Guides through Email

Decide if you want to send an email from your outlook inbox to your personal contact lists, or if you want to send a mass email to faculty and/or students in a particular academic area.

  1. For Outlook, you can compose your message as you typically would, and you can insert a linked graphic representing IU Libraries’ research guides to increase your credibility and attention received.
  2. For a mass email, please send a request to libcomm@iu.edu and request assistance. The Communications Department has access to the Salesforce system and can help.  Allow for at least three to four weeks for the list to be acquired.  You will be asked to provide the message you wish to send.

Promote your Library Research Guide in Academic Buildings

  1. Learn what buildings your subject areas are frequently taught in.
  2. Check out if the building has a digital slide system.
  3. Ask around to who to the contact is to submit slides to (each building has its own contacts).
  4. Ask if they will take a slide from you.
  5. Download the template here. In the slide notes includes instructions on how to create the go.iu url and QR code, as well as places to find accompanying images
  6. Use PowerPoint to customize your information, then follow the Notes on the template for how to save your PowerPoint as the right-size PNG.  Otherwise, your slide will show up undersized on the screen.
  7. Send your PNG to the contact you have made at the academic school(s) of your choice.
  8. If you have multidisciplinary guides: You can also send it to the Well Library to reach students of all academic paths. Use this form: https://libraries.indiana.edu/ad-placement-request-form-digital-screen-ad
