Endnote

EndNote is a software package designed to help you organize citations and create a bibliography. EndNote helps you to find, download, and organize references in your own personal EndNote Library.
 
EndNote allows you to do the following:
  • Search for citations in databases (e.g., PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science)
  • Retrieve relevant citations and import them into EndNote
  • Organize citations 
  • Use an EndNote plugin for Microsoft Word to easily format references and bibliographies in your papers to conform to styles used by thousands of different journals
  • Download full text of articles as PDFs
  • Annotate PDFs
  • Share a library with up to 100 persons

Zotero

Zotero is a free and open-source reference management software to manage bibliographic data and related research materials. Features include web browser integration, online syncing, generation of in-text citations, footnotes, and bibliographies, an integrated PDF reader and note editor, as well as integration with the word processors Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, and Google Docs. Since Zotero is free, there is a storage maximum before you're prompted to pay for additional storage.

Mendeley

Mendeley, pronounced "men-duh-lay", is one of several options for citation management software. Starting in 2020, their focus is on an online client that has a matching desktop version, called Mendeley Reference Manager. Mendeley Desktop is still available, but is no longer being updated. The mobile app is no longer available.
