Each webinar focuses on a different type of data from a different vendor or collaborator. Knowledge of these data can be helpful for researchers starting new projects or students understanding the changing nature of the market and industries in which they hope to work after graduation.

Consumers and Industry Data - Mintel, IBISworld

COVID-19 has affected consumer markets like nothing ever has before. This one-hour webinar will cover COVID-19 related consumer data (industry effects, consumer psychographics and buying habits, economic indicators) available to IU students, faculty, and staff through IU Libraries. Kelly Cronin, Senior Client Success Manager from Mintel Group will present “COVID-19’ & Mintel Research”. Joe Mazur, Senior Client Relationship Manager at IBISworld, will present on the US COVID-19 impact tool, the US Local Trade Tool, and how to look at the ways COVID-19 has affected hundreds of industries. Each speaker will present COVID-19 data as well as example insights and predictions as we continue battling COVID-19.

Geographic and Social Science Data- SimplyAnalytics

This one-hour webinar will cover COVID-19 related consumer data (industry effects, consumer psychographics and buying habits, economic indicators) available to IU Bloomington faculty, students and staff through IU Libraries. Juan Vasquez, Support Specialist at SimplyAnalytics, will show us COVID-19 data available through SimplyAnalytics as a time series table or rank areas based on COVID-19 counts or per 100,000 individuals. Using SimplyAnalytics, we co-mingle this data with Age, Race, Ethnicity, Income, Employment, the population living in Nursing Facilities and more to find interesting trends in the data.

Healthcare Market Research - BCC Research

This one-hour webinar will cover COVID-19 data related to the health care market, including face masks, disposable hospital supplies, as well as larger markets like Healthcare, Medical Devices & Surgical, Pharmaceuticals, as part of Indiana University Libraries Bloomington’s new subscription to BCC Market Research.

Joan Ang Bissdorf of BCC Research will cover the kind of data, formats used and other useful functions for searching and analyzing competitors. Time McLean, Director of Content at BCC Research will weigh in with analyst insight on how these reports get created and what they consider.

Regenstrief Institute- Healthcare Data

This one hour webinar will cover COVID-19 related data available to IU students, faculty, and staff through the Regenstrief Institute (positivity counts, death rates, hospital data, economic indicators). Founded in 1969, Regenstrief Institute is a local, national, and global leader in medical research and innovation, dedicated to a world where better information empowers people to end disease and realize true health. Katie Allen, the Program Manager of Regenstrief Institute Data Core will discuss the COVID-19 registry. Regenstrief is currently at the validation and testing phase for the investigator-facing tool and is currently recruiting beta testers.
