African American Voices and History in University Collections

This is an artificially created collection that contains recordings and promotional materials for interviews and events created as part of the Indiana University Black Film Center/Archive's ongoing in-house research and outreach initiatives. Individuals featured include, but are not limited to, Maya Angelou, Camille Billops, Jim Brown, Charles Burnett, Kathleen Collins, Julie Dash, Ossie Davis, Zeinabu irene Davis, Ruby Dee, Taye Diggs, William Greaves, Bill Gunn, Spike Lee, Jessie Maple, Toni Morrison, Clarence Muse, Richard Pryor, Marlon Riggs, Cauleen Smith, Madame Sul-te-Wan, and Yvonne Welbon.

Contains numerous interviews conducted by author, Steve Ryfle, as part of his book project “Desegregating Hollywood”. Individuals include, but are not limited to, Pervis Atkins, Diahann Carroll, Wanda Coleman, Sheila Frazier, Pam Grier, Julius Harris, Gloria Hendry, Louise Meriwether, Paul Mooney, Ishmael Reed, Michael Schultz, S.
