Research is rarely simple or direct. Expect to change directions and hit roadblocks every now and then.

This guide is intended to help reduce the frustrations you may encounter as you pursue your research. It has three main parts:

  2. The IUCAT page provides advice on how to use our library catalog to find both primary and secondary sources.

  3. Sources for historical research includes links to selected historical newspapers and journals, digitized primary sources, and article databases.
