Essential Tools for Graduate Students

Library Services for you!

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Use ILL when the IUB Libraries do not have a book or journal article that you're looking for. First, create an account with Document Delivery Services; just log in with your IU authentication information and fill out the profile. Next time, after you login, you'll be taken straight to the request form.

In the request form, fill out as much bibliographic information as possible. In WorldCat and most databases, the IU-Link feature will lead you to an ILL form that is already filled out. Arrival times of ILL items depend on distance, location, and availability, but most requests are filled within a week to ten days...amazing!

Request Article Delivery

Use the Article Delivery service when you need digital copies of articles from journals that the IUB Libraries hold in print or on microform.

Request from ALF

The Auxiliary Library Facility (ALF) s a state-of-the-art high-density shelving facility designed to alleviate shelving space constraints in the IU Libraries. Request ALF materials via IUCAT. Find the material in IUCAT, click the "Request ALF item" link, fill out the online form, and submit...it's that easy.

ALF materials requested prior to noon Monday through Saturday will be available from your selected Bloomington library delivery destination by 5:00 p.m. the same evening.  Materials requested after 12:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, will be available by 5:00 p.m. the following business day.

Teaching and Learning

If you are teaching a course or developing a new one, librarians in the IUB Libraries' Teaching and Learning Department will work with you to help your students use information resources and develop their information literacy skills.

IUScholarWorks: raise the profile of your research

IUScholarWorks is a service of the IU Libraries to make the work of IU scholars freely available and ensures that these resources are preserved and organized for the future. Graduate students may submit their working and final papers and data to IU's institutional repository, and IUScholarWorks can assist with publishing and copyright.

Graduate Carrels

Need your own space in the library? Graduate students may request carrels for their own use.
