This research guide will help you with your play analyses. Analyzing plays and play scripts may cover a broad range of topics.
Topics might include: the playwright's body of work, information about the various environments that influence the setting of the play (economic, political, social, cultural, historical) and the attitudes of the characters toward their world, any existing adaptations, production history and critical/audience responses, images or relevant source materials, a dramaturgical rationale (i.e. why this play should be presented at this time), etc.
