Starting Your Search:

When you get to the IUCAT homepage, you will see a search box at the top of the page. You can use this box to search for subjects, authors, or specific book titles. There are several ways to narrow down your search results throughout IUCAT just by using this box. See the screen shot below to learn how your can narrow your search results when starting your researching process.

Narrowing Down Your Search Results:

Once you get a good list of search results, IUCAT gives you several options for narrowing down that list. If you are an Eskenazi Museum docent, you will want to narrow down your search result list to materials located at IU Bloomington. Some of the other ways you can narrow down your list are by: Format, Publication, Author, Subject, Language, Call Number, Campus, Library, and Collection. All of these options are located on the far left hand side of the page.

How to Recall a Book:

At Indiana University Bloomington Libraries, you have the option to recall a book that is checked out. This means, that you can fill out a request form to have a specific title that is currently checked out returned to the library so that you can have it. Please click on this link to get to the recall form. Please note, that the person who has the book checked out, will not be able to see who is recalling the book. So this is an anonymous process. Also, it is important to know that if a book is said to be located in a student carrel or student bookshelf, you MUST recall the book in order to check it out. The student carrels and bookshelves are treated as the permanent location of some items and they can be recalled by anyone at anytime.
