This guide provides information on contemporary artists from Latin America and links to resources such as books, websites, and videos. All artists included in this research guide are of Latin American origin or descent. For this research guide, Latin America refers to Mexico, most of Central and South America, the Caribbean, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Puerto Rico.
This research guide does not represent a comprehensive list of all contemporary Latin American art. Highlighted artists were selected using library materials, popular press articles, and museum websites; these sources are included in the reference page. Additionally, while artists are listed alphabetically by medium, this does not signify that this is the sole medium that artist works in; nor are all artistic mediums represented in this guide.
Guide created and augmented by individuals at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as part of the #FromMargintoCenter initiative at the Ricker Library of Architecture and Art. Edited for use by Indiana University-Bloomington by graduate assistant, Loesje Krabbe.
