PLEASE NOTE: users must create an individual account with their official iu.edu email to access. Offers a new way for users to experience Josef Albers’s original masterwork. The website incorporates interactive features that illustrate the book’s fundamental concepts, and allow users to study the plates, and experiment with their own designs.

Includes over two hours of video commentary, along with archival video of Albers and interviews with experts explaining key principles. Also includes 60 interactive plates that reproduce the experience of working with paper. Allows students to create, save, and export their own version of interactive plates in .SVG and .PDF formats.

If you setup your Interaction of Color account using your @indiana.edu email address, you will need to update the address to your @iu.edu email address before December 31, 2025. Please use the following instructions to update your account:

  1. From a web browser, sign in to your Interaction of Color account.
  2. Select the account dropdown menu (located on upper left) and select View Profile.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. Update the User name, E-mail, and "E-mail confirm" boxes with your iu.edu email address.
  5. Select the Save button.
